Swindley spends his last day at the shop. Emily and Doreen buy him a pen as a farewell present. Jack wants to return from Scotland when he discovers Arthur is around but Annie puts him off. Lucille doesn't want to go to Ireland. Annie can't find anyone to look after the bar for the evening and has to cancel her date with Arthur. He begs her to let him work behind the bar instead.
